abstract = "O Rio Para{\'{\i}}ba do Sul {\'e} um dos principais rios
brasileiros, sua bacia hidrogr{\'a}fica {\'e} densamente
habitada, com uma paisagem complexa que inclui {\'a}reas urbanas,
industriais, florestas e {\'a}reas de agropecu{\'a}ria. Desta
bacia origina-se {\'a}gua respons{\'a}vel pelo abastecimento de
aproximadamente 20 milh{\~o}es de habitantes. An{\'a}lises
atrav{\'e}s de modelos hidrol{\'o}gicos t{\^e}m o intuito de
melhor compreender a din{\^a}mica dos recursos naturais e suas
intera{\c{c}}{\~o}es. O modelo SWAT (Soil \& Assessment Water
Tool) foi capaz de reproduzir com alta confiabilidade a vaz{\~a}o
e a qualidade da {\'a}gua do rio em per{\'{\i}}odo mensal
compreendido entre 1992 e 2015. A vaz{\~a}o do rio {\'e}
fortemente controlada por hidrel{\'e}tricas, tamb{\'e}m pela
transposi{\c{c}}{\~a}o para o Rio Guand{\'u}, e em algumas
sub-bacias a quantidade dispon{\'{\i}}vel de {\'a}gua {\'e}
controlada pelos solos {\'u}midos. Concomitante a modelagem de
vaz{\~a}o, foram realizadas tamb{\'e}m modelagem de sedimentos,
nitrog{\^e}nio e f{\'o}sforo. O nitrato modelado apresentou uma
boa resposta as {\'e}pocas de chuva e nas {\'e}pocas de estiagem
o modelo tende a subestimar a concentra{\c{c}}{\~a}o de NO3. No
per{\'{\i}}odo modelado houve um per{\'{\i}}odo de seca
hist{\'o}rica entre 2013 e 2015 e o SWAT teve sucesso na
simula{\c{c}}{\~a}o, se mostrando uma ferramenta confi{\'a}vel.
ABSTRACT: Para{\'{\i}}ba do Sul River is an important Brazilian
river, its hydrological watershed is densely inhabited, with a
complex landscape that includes urban, industrial, forest and
agricultural areas. This watershed supplies approximately 20
million inhabitants. Analyzes through hydrological models are
intended to better understand the dynamics of natural resources
and their interactions. The SWAT (Soil \& Assessment Water Tool)
model was able to reproduce, with high reliability, the flow and
water quality of the river in a monthly period from 1992 to 2015.
The river flow is strongly controlled by hydroelectric plants,
also by the transposition to the river. Guand{\'u} River, and in
some sub-basins the available amount of water is controlled by
moist soils. Sediment, nitrogen and phosphorus modeling were also
performed. The modeled nitrate showed a good response to the rainy
season and during the dry season the model tends to underestimate
the NO3 concentration. In the modeled period there was a
historical drought period between 2013 and 2015 and SWAT was
successful in the simulation, proving to be a reliable tool.",
